A brief description of what you do -

SweetDoh! - of which I am the founder - is a film production company, specialising in short films of all genres. Some of our work has been screened and awarded at festivals including Palm Springs, Galway Fleadh, Raindance, Sundance London and Encounters - and we have been funded by Creative England, BFI Network, and featured on Vimeo Staff Picks and Vice. Some of our films have also sold to Canal+, RTÉ and Shorts International for worldwide distribution.

Between now and when you were studying, have you more or less followed the path that you imagined for yourself?

When I studied, I dreamt of being able to make a living off my own company, but thought that would be incredibly long and difficult and that I might have to settle for a full time job in a bigger company. Luckily, I have managed to get our business to a sustainable level where I can now live from SweetDoh's activity, and could hire my first staff this year, which is something I never thought I'd be able to achieve.

Where do you see, or hope, your work might be leading you to in the future?

I aim to see the company grow to hire more staff within the next 2 years, in order to produce more short films, create a more active corporate branch, and develop a style of feature films for cinema release.

How does London feature into your work?

London is an incredible environment to be making films in. It is hugely inspiring and it offers plenty of opportunities for work and networking. Our work being largely remote, sometimes in overseas locations, we benefit from London's ideal geographical position, which offers opportunities for filming all around the world.

Any comments on your space at Hotel Elephant?

We saw our activity become a lot more sustainable and credible since we took our space at Hotel Elephant, which was our first office. The location is brilliant, the space is perfectly adapted to our activity, and the proximity of other artists/creatives gives a very inspiring and communal quality to going to work in the morning.

Do you, or does your work, have a socially engaged aspect or a greater cause that you hope it is contributing to?

We pride ourselves in only accepting commercial work for companies that have a greater cause, whether social, political or environmental. Our aim is to be able to make a small profit while creating work that contributes to greater good via the film medium.

One boring piece of advice?

I find that doing To Do Lists is the best way to grasp the complexity of work ahead, while making it less overwhelming when broken down into smaller tasks.

And one more exciting?

To never be scared to chase people up, and never leave a meeting empty handed.
