1000 Londoners Movie Nights - Fight Club
On November the 27th, Hotel Elephant will be hosting Chocolate Films for week 3 of their 1000 Londoners series, screening ‘Fight Club’.
This November, Chocolate Films are offering three screening programmes, giving an insight to the parts of the city that are rarely seen. Screenings of selected short documentaries from acclaimed online series 1000 Londoners will take audiences right to the heart of London’s subcultures. The films, which will include premieres of new content, will be shown alongside rare archive footage of London.
In Week 1, meet the Londoners who live the city by night the escorts, cabaret artists and clubbers. In Week 2, hang out with the Londoners on two wheels the Critical Mass protesters and bikers. Dip into the world of London’s fighters in Week 3 including a Shaolin monk and the world’s top Street Fighter gamer.
The screenings are being run as part of the BFI’s ‘Britain on Film’ season, supported by Film Hub London, and will be held at Hackney Attic, The Exhibit, Deptford Cinema, Stow Film Lounge and Hotel Elephant. Londonist has been announced as the media partner for the events.
1000 Londoners earned winner of Best International Web Series at Arcipelago Film Festival 2014 and a nomination for Raindance Best British Web Series 2015. Even national treasure Stephen Fry took to social media, claiming, “More proof that everyone is extraordinary: 1000 Londoners”.
Filmmaker Mark Currie commented: “This is an amazing new stage for our 1 000 Londoners project. It’s the first time we’re getting longer programmes which enable us to show the depth and richness of the city through our films.”
Filmmaker Rachel Wang commented: “These programmes are the only ones in London which allow audiences to see all sides of the city from transgender comic magicians to professional wrestlers…”

Line One: Intemp
Line One: Intemp is the first in a series of exhibitions and projects under the name Pipeline, taking place in the basement space of Hotel Elephant’s new Harper Road building.
Pipeline, directed by Flynn Murray, Héloïse Reynolds and James Tabbush, is an initiative for the exhibition of work by emerging and unrepresented artists. Working within a community predominantly, but not exclusively, based in Southwark, Pipeline will involve group and solo exhibitions, performances, film screenings, discussions and publications.
Pipeline, is part of a Hotel Elephant program to provide exhibition opportunities and a platform for artists led projects in Southwark. Hotel Elephant is dedicated to supporting artist to establish their practice in Southwark and both Flynn & James have a studio at Hotel Elephant.
